Embrace Your Place

So the school semester has started back but over break I had a really good time reading non-school books. In my vow to slow down and dedicate more time to "enjoying the journey" I have made it my business to find time to do the things that I enjoy. I recently purchased a book (electronically because I LOVE this ipad2 :)) that talks about the "respectable sins". These are the sins that are not as easily recognized as some of the heavy hitters that have been popularized by society but the settle inward thoughts, beliefs and personality traits that breed strangs of havoc and discomfort in our loves without us even knowing it. The one "respectable sin" off the list of about a dozen that I want to highlight in this blog is : discontentment.

When we review ourselves and our situations, we can find a million and TWO areas of improvement. Now don't get ME wrong, I am ALL about a person having a plan for how they want to progress; but I too was ignorant of how displeasing it is to God for us to have spirits of discontentment. Discontentment can take on many forms: discontentment with our bodies, discontentment with our living arrangements, discontentment with our educational progress, discontentment with our employment, vehicle, finances, appearance, relationships,wardrobe and soooo many others.

But how often do we find discontentment in: our walk with Christ, our commitment to His Word, our habitual negligt to give Him the 1:1 time that He desires from us? For me, not often enough.

Never do I want for become complacid; I always want to strive for daily improvment--namely in my walk with Christ. However in that walk, I want to be content. Even things, people and situations are not as they could or should be, I can find solace knowing that God will work it out. He promises that in His Word. {Romans 8:28}

In the meanwhile, as I sit back and let the Lord work out the situations that I am discontent about, while I'm here, I am going to relax, take a deep breath and embrace my place!
